28 December 2003
If I heard Matt correctly last night at the show, we can expect to see Break Me Out as the band's second single around May. The first single is just hitting now and they are already planning a second...I would say that's a pretty damn good sign.
19 December 2003
I have independently confirmed that Eyes Wired Shut will be the first single off of the new album. This should not be a surprise, since the song will be featured on The Punisher soundtrack in March.
14 December 2003
Edgewater won Rock Band of the Year for the second year in a row at the Eagle's 2003 Local Awards. Eric Delegard won again for Producer of the Year. The low point of the night was when Jibe won for best song of the year.
7 December 2003
Faktion is rumored to be rescheduling their show in Tyler on the 27th so that they may open up for Edgewater again. Last night, Faktion won the Battle of the Bands competition at Fat Daddy's. Should be a good show for us.
6 December 2003
A reliable source on the Edgewater forum has indicated that Edgewater will be playing the
Curtain Club on December 27th. Should be an excellent show to close out the year. I don't care where you live, come join us. Thanks to stubbie for the heads up.
2 December 2003
Hey this is pretty slick. Edgewater's own
Eyes Wired Shut is going to be the feature track on the upcoming
The Punisher movie soundtrack. The movie is due for release in April, so expect the soundtrack around the same time as
South of Sideways debuts. Special thanks to "boneall" from the Edgewater forums for pointing this news out to everybody.
29 November 2003
Not much is new lately. Edgewater will be opening up a few dates for Sevendust and Ill Niņo in a few weeks. Edgewater also is on a few ballots for the Local Show Awards this year. Go vote for them for Rock Band of the Year, Song of the Year (The Story Of...), and Producer of the year (their producer Eric Delegard). Go vote now
HERE but don't vote for Jibe.
15 November 2003
WOW. I was greatly surprised today when someone told me that whole songs from the new album were available on Kazaa. Being the skeptic that I am, I searched for "edgewater sideways" and was astounded when TONS of files appeared for Eyes Wired Shut, Tres Quatros, Break Me Out, and Inhale. Yes, they are real and yes they are the new songs. But, either god or Wind-up decided to torment me by placing intermittent ANNOYING "phone-line disconnected" tones that interrupt the song (and yes, in the parts I really want to hear). My guess is that Wind-up put them out there to get people listening and the tones are either specifically for Kazaa or were also on some sort of test audience CD. Anyways, looks like Inhale will be track 1, Eyes track 3, Break track 6, and Tres track 12.
13 November 2003
Head on over to
The Official Edgewater Site and check out 2 minute clips of
Inhale and a new version of
Eyes Wired Shut. The tracks will be appearing on
South of Sideways in March. I have also heard from a reliable source that test audiences have scored Edgewater higher than any other artists under
Wind-up Records, including Creed, Seether, and Evanescence (big surprise there). This conforms to my 6 month old theory that Edgewater is already the best band under Wind-up without even putting out an album for them.

7 November 2003
According to the band at the show last night, we can expect a February to March timeframe for the release of South of Sideways. I still think Wind-up is going to throw in delay after delay. Hell, they couldn't even get the website right on their flyers - they put "edgewater.com." Something else to note from last night's performance is that Lifter was not played (and Ode to You, but that's obvious), while every other possible song from the new album was. That would indicate to me that we will, amazingly, not see Lifter on album.
6 November 2003
Well I WAS going to post the acoustic songs from Good Day Dallas but they say I can't because apparently they are just going to sit on it forever and no one will see it again. So boycott that show until they give us our Edgewater.
4 November 2003
Submersed has dropped out of their remaining Texas dates this week as Donald returned home for the birth of his baby. If you know Donald, be sure to congratulate him (or point and laugh, depending on if you like kids or not).
Also be advised: If you were planning on going to the acoustic show on Wednesday, make sure you are 21. The event is sponsored by Sauza Tequila, and Texas law requires that only ages 21+ are admitted.
26 October 2003
I saw that
Wind-up has posted some notes on Edgewater and even gave them their band page. They also said to look out for new tracks from the new album soon. Soon? Right, if we're lucky. I'm more likely to get the album from the band first. Sarcasm is fun.
According to the band's website, the new album title has been shortened to
South of Sideways. Did anyone else like it better before? I started a petition on the band's forum so sign it if you think so.
21 October 2003
The "Official" Edgewater site has finally posted some new dates. Apparently the show on the 5th has been moved to the 6th.
I have posted a flyer for the November 5th show if anyone wants to print some up. Feel free to grab it and change the dates/venues if you want. It's not that great but it's all I have. Get it
HERE>UPDATE: Justin has posted some more dates and the lyrics to all the new songs on the new album. I have added them to the lyrics section for your viewing pleasure.
15 October 2003
The
Gypsy Tea Room Calendar lists "Honky" as performing in the tea room on November 6th. Some of you may be familiar with the fact that bassist Ricky refers to himself as "The Honky Mofo" on his website. Could this be code for the rumored show?
11 October 2003
I have added a lyrics page for Five Degrees South of Sideways containing lyrics for the new album. I will update the page with lyrics as I receive them. I am also going to be updating the old lyrics pages to match the new layout.
If you have webspace and want to host audio clips to stream for this site, let me know. I don't think I can stream files until I get a real server to host the site on.
10 October 2003
For any of you Austin fans, the Edgewater Forum speaks of a show in Austin on October 31st.
9 October 2003
After 3.5 long months,
www.edgewaterband.com has returned. There isn't much there yet, but expect more. One interesting thing to note is the title of the debut album:
Five Degrees South of Sideways. I have also heard that there might be a
second Dallas show on Nov. 6th, although Matt tells me nothing is confirmed as of yet. ROCK.
1 October 2003
Matt has explained to me the contractual reasons why they can't sell their old stuff anymore, which makes more sense than just "Take off the Merch link, do it for the band" as management would have it.
In other news, the new national debut album by fellow Dallas band Element Eighty is just a few weeks away. It's going to be cool. Join their street team by clicking the banner below. You can win a whole bunch of free swag!!

30 September 2003
I received what I consider a rather rude e-mail from Edgewater's new management
MSK Entertainment Management. Apparently, I have to rush a little faster to change the audio section, because you know you are totally ripping off the band and their management when you download a 30 second clip to see what they sound like. Oh well, I will look into streaming stuff if I ever find time. Supposedly, I am also supposed to take off the merch links. Economics is now a criminal offense?
UPDATE: Looks like the November 5th show will be at Curtain Club with Submersed and Faktion. Not too shabby.
29 September 2003
I noticed Ricky's
website had a link to an interview that Micah and Justin did for BOSS. Check it out
HERE. Notice the last paragraph says a single will hit around January...we could only hope.
26 September 2003
November 5th has been confirmed for the upcoming Edgewater/Submersed tour. Where? I have no idea, but I have heard Deep Ellum Live (which has no website to verify). I will post more dates as I become aware of them.
24 September 2003
Looks like my rumors have already been confirmed. An associate of the band tells me that they will be touring with Submursed (or I guess it's Submersed now?) starting on October 25th. The fourth show is supposed to be in Dallas, but they don't know about November 5th. Stay tuned...
Submersed.com may also post dates soon.
23 September 2003
I found out a few things today. First, I have caught a hold of rumors that Edgewater is playing a show on November 5th. This would fall in line with their claims that they will be back in November, but a Wednesday? I hope not, school sucks this semester. Second, Wind-up finally got cooking on the band, they now list Edgewater as coming in '04. They finally have caught up from THREE MONTHS AGO. Looks like Submursed is next for now though, and their CD will come out in early '04. That means one of two things could happen. 1. Submursed strikes a chord with the listeners and gets big, in which case Wind-up will focus heavy on them and we won't be seeing an Edgewater album until 2005 (late 2004 if we are damn lucky). 2, which I think is more likely, Submursed fails miserably and Edgewater gets pushed out soon after. I guess it depends on if you like Submursed or not? Oh, and it looks like Wind-up finally got their DNS set up to link to www.edgewaterband.com so now you just see a blank coming soon page...yay
12 September 2003
A friend sent me a link to what I believe to be the first ever high quality live Edgewater video. Sweet, except the audio has been dubbed over with the real song... Check it out
HERE before someone decides its illegal. On another note, I got a message from Matt saying Wind-Up found this site (still not sure if that's good or bad), but apparently they don't like my audio section. I will probably change the audio files to stream if I can figure out how...
12 September 2003
The band has left a note on
Faktion's
forum:
hello everyone- Sorry it has been so long. Lots of things have happened in the past three months We finally [g]ot the deal that we were looking for with Wind-Up Records out of New York. We started recording our national debut at the end of July and should finish the record by the middle of October. The record will hit stores by spring of 2004. So all of the patience and hard work finally paid off. We will start touring in November and filming a video sometime this fall. I will keep everyone posted. If the video is filmed in Dallas we will let eveyone know the details. We know that the web site has been down for a long time, but Wind-Up is creating a site that caters to the art work of the cd. It will probably be launched in late November early December. We just want to thank all of our friends, family, and fans that have stuck with us through thick and thin. We would not be living our dreams if it wasn't for you. We can't wait to see all of you at the shows.
Matt
Justin
Micah
Worm
Ricky
A video? Sweet. Maybe I can be in it.
26 August 2003
Ricky has replied to my note about the tracklist for the new album:
We have recorded 15 songs for the record. I imagine 11-12 will be used.
8 off of "lifter" (no tom petty or "echo")
submerged
circles
the story of
inhale
science
engage
quitter
unfortunately they all won't make the record
Looks like those will join
Sweet Suffocation, Eyes Wired Shut, Break Me Out, Neglected, Tres Quatros, Ode to You, One Perfect Something, and
Lifter. Maybe those of us that have the new versions of Down Communication and Exposure should consider ourselves lucky. Check out Ricky's website
Honky Mofo.
19 August 2003
Matt has sent an update on the progress of their upcoming album:
everything is great! we are going back to new york this week. when we get back we start the vocals and mix. we should be done towards the end of october.-matt
Can't wait to see what they have in store for us.
15 August 2003
Edgewaterband.com is still down so I have created a temporary forum for everybody to use in the interim. Visit the "New Forum" link on the navbar to the left to check it out.
17 July 2003
Edgewaterband.com is down for the time being. Matt told me several weeks ago that it was a domain issue, and it should be fixed soon. Since it is STILL not fixed, I would bet it is down because Wind-up had a problem with them MP3s on the site and/or wanted to take control of the site (most band websites are hosted by their labels).
29 June 2003
After several weeks of speculation, Edgewater announced at the 97.1 Local Show Ozzfest After-Party that they were in negotiations with
Wind-up records. The band intends to begin recording a new CD soon with the label, and is already planning on including the new tracks "Engage" and "Quitter," in addition to the previously recorded "Story Of..." Other possibilities include the remakes of "Down Communication," "Exposure," and other tracks from their first album, as well as several other songs the band has demo-ed at recent shows.
